1st AMERICAS MULTIPLE EVENTS CUP

The 1st Americas Multiple Events Cup will be hosted in Havana, Cuba, at the Pan American Stadium, on May 29 – 30, 2009 under the supervision of the North America, Central America and Caribbean Track and Field Association (NACAC) and the Cuban Track and Field Federation (FCA).

The Pan American Stadium is Class II, granted by the IAAF, which has hosted several major international competitions, namely:

  • 1991 VI Pan American Sports Games.
  • 1992 VI World Track and Field Cup.
  • 1997 Pan American Junior Games.
  • All “Barrientos Memorial” from 1991 UP to 2007.

The Stadium has an 8 lanes track recently mounted in 2008 by the prestigious firm MONDO, similar to the one used during the last Olympic Games in Beijing. Likewise the facility boasts 4 areas for horizontal jumps (2 high jumps and 2 for Pole Vault), 4 areas for Shot Put, Hammer and Discus, plus 2 areas for Javelin.

The 6 lanes warm-up track can be found at the back of the Stadium with jumping and throwing areas, which connects with the main Stadium through a 100 m tunnel.

The Americas Multiple Events Cup will comprise male Decathlon events and female Heptathlon events.

PARTICIPANTS

All Member Federations from NACAC and CONSUDATLE may be eligible to participate in the Americas Multiple Events. Men should have a score over 6,500 points for the Decathlon event, while women should be over 4,500 for the Heptathlon event. All results should have been obtained during the period starting January 1st, 2008 and ending May 1st, 2009.

According to this type of competition rules, the best eight places in each discipline will be granted a Prize Money Award, plus the corresponding score for the World Series and the IAAF Ranking List.

The maximum number of athletes will be 16 and each country will have a limit of 3 participants per gender. Participating athletes will be endorsed by the Americas Multiple Events Cup Organizing Committee through the IAAF and regional ranking lists.

Delegations should send their arrival and departure details to the Organizing Committee so as to make the corresponding local transportation arrangements (International Airport José Martí - Meliá Habana Hotel.

PRELIMINARY REGISTRATION

All countries shall send the number registration in the preliminary registration forms, to be electronically sent, by April 25t (12:00 a.m. Cuban time).

FINAL REGISTRATION

The final name registration with all data requested in the official form, and to be electronically sent, shall reach the Organizing Committee by May 15, 2009 at the latest.

ACCREDITATION

Participants will be accredited at their arrival to Cuba through nominal registration previously sent by their Federations.
